Dermal Filler Dissolving - Hyaluronidase Treatment
Dissolving of Dermal Filler - Hyaluronidase Treatment
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that facilitates the breakdown of hyaluronic acid dermal filler in the body. Like hyaluronic acid, hyaluronidase is naturally occurring and works to control the turnover of hyaluronic acid that the body generates.
Hyaluronidase can be injected into areas where dermal fillers have previously been placed to reduce or reverse their effects.
Patients are advised to wait 2-3 weeks after dermal filler injections to give them time to settle in place and see the final results before pursuing a dermal filler dissolving treatment. However, more urgent treatment may be required in the instance of severe side complications or allergies.
The results from hyaluronidase treatment are immediate, though hyaluronidase will continue to dissolve dermal fillers for up to five days after administration.
Therefore, the final results will be visible after any side effects dissipate and hyaluronidase stops working, which can take up to two weeks. At this stage, you can assess the outcome and determine whether further treatment is required or whether new filler is to be applied.
